Homer and Cristina Workshops

UCSD Argentine Tango Club presents a series of workshops by Homer and Cristina Ladas from February 22nd, 2008 to February 24th, 2008. The detailed schedule of the workshops is available at the workshop page.

Tango Music Jam with Homer Ladas

There will be a Tango Music Jam on Sunday, February 24th, 2008 with Homer Ladas. All musician are invited to attend this event. For more information please visit the tango music jam page.

Workshop with Sean and Charity

UCSD Argentine Tango Club presents a series of workshops by Charity Leborn and Sean Dockery from October 5th, 2007 to October 7th, 2007. The detailed schedule of the workshops is available at the workshop page.

Fall 2007 Outdoor Milonga

UCSD Argentine Tango Club will be holding an Outdoor Milonga at UCSD Price Center. There will be no practica this week. Light snacks will be served.

When: Tuesday October 2nd, 2007, 8:00pm-11:00am
Where: UCSD Price Center
Cost: Free for students & non-students.
Why: Because it's fun to dance under the moon light!

Before 11:00pm, if you don't have an evening parking permit, you can purchase an Hourly Visitor permit from the Northpoint Visitor Information Center, or the Express Service Permit Dispenser in Lot P303.
After 11:00pm, parking is free.

Outdoor Milonga at Geisel Library

We will be holding an Outdoor Milonga at Geisel Library. There will be no practica this week.

cost: Free for students. $3 for non-students.
why: Maybe you've gotten a taste of tango from our introductory workshop series... Maybe you're itching to dance outdoors against the surreal backdrop of the Library's gardens and statues... In either case, you'll have fun!

"Glimpse to Dancing Happily, Boleos, and Creativity"

when: Tuesday Mar. 6, 2007, 9:30-10:30pm, following by practica until 11 pm
where: Rec Gym (see the Practica page for directions)

- $5 for students & beginner workshop participants
- $10 general

This is a preview of their weekend workshops at El Mundo Del Tango. Here is Michelle's description:

"Dancing happily is about body mechanics, alignments, and weight shift. Natural movement that encourages smiling such as relaxed shoulder and hip movement, all the things they tell you not to do in tango. This will loosen everybody up and we can continue with a fun exercise to help disassociate hips and help leaders create elastic, wrappy boleos for followers. Last, the creativity class encourages leaders to work more with the quality and intention of their dance using a sequence that every intermediate and even beginning dancer should know. We challenge the more expert dancers easily and followers are super active as well. Creativity is a lot of fun." - Michelle

This workshop is intended for dancers of all levels - beginners and more advanced dancers alike. They have something to offer everyone.

The UCSD Tango Club will be holding a Valentine's Milonga. There will be no practica this week, so come dressed to impress!

why: You've gotten a taste of tango from our introductory workshop series. Now it's time to apply what you've learned in a social dancing situation. Plus, there's a special surprise for followers.

The San Diego-Denver Close Embrace Tango Exchange (SDDTX for short)

when: January 5-7, 2007 (but preregister by the end of November, 2007 for best prices)
where: Town & Country Hotel in San Diego, CA
why: Because San Diego doesn't have enormous events so often! This is a big opportunity for people who can't afford to travel to festivals.

This promises to be a big event with > 300 dancers attending. You must register to attend. Student discounts are available. For more info, go here.

The UCSD Tango Club will be holding our first ever outdoor milonga! Note that there will be no practica this week, so come to the milonga instead to strut your stuff.

us: "It will be outside, with soft lights and a running fountain. Milonga social etiquette will apply. Lots of foot traffic means you can flaunt what you've got."
